Liberalism has paved its way quite on the forefront now, coming through a seam of array roads and many different approaches .All hail to be born in a century when the rough road has been cleared up and a salute to the great minds for bringing us up till here.
Now,as we stand in the free willed zone, we surely are venturing out more in our ways bringing about theories and conclusions. like they say progression is a never ending process.
So while we are all on the road of making new observations and taking the road less travelled , Ive found my own interesting topic to divulge over and its called the gender identity , i came to thinking about it ever since i read Virginia Woolf's Orlando and I'm rethinking now as i read about Casey Leger ,a 35 yr old,6 ft 2 inch tall woman who's making it big as a male model and then there is Andrej pejic, the most beautiful man who is taking the androgynous trend by storm. Similarly there are more......
As we all know that gender dishevelment is quite the talk of our time ,where people have gracefully accepted the biological imprintment in their minds rather than what their physicality has to offer and the great fuss over it just seems to be diminishing day by day .
we longer live in an era where where the work of Mary Ann Evans was more appropriate to be known as George Elliot's work.The scenario now has quite changed like J.K Rowling going Robert Galbraith seems much like a personal preference.(just so, i personally would like the name of the fairer sex emblazoned on the cover)
As we ponder upon these gender issues , it makes me wonder how far would the gender relevance matter in ones identity or could we possibly be succumbing to societal norm as is for distinguished genders.
Like in Orlando's case where he switches gender over and over again growing tired of having to fit himself with those around him and as he grows up to be with an independent mind, he rejects the idea of conformity choosing to remain however he chooses to be.
New notions about masculinity and femininity seems to be reshaping the world of fashion.
Moving a long way from gender discrimination to gender preference are we now likely to ditch the 'gender' word behind and choose to be who we wish to be whenever we wish to be.
